Nightly rates are built for holidays. If you are in Nadi for a work posting, a family situation, or a slow few months, the arithmetic changes — and so should the price you pay.
Short-stay pricing covers the cost of turning a place over constantly — cleaning, linen, the gaps between guests. A guest staying a month removes most of that, which is why long-stay rates are genuinely lower rather than a marketing gesture. We take 15% off for stays of a month or more.
It also changes what matters. Over three nights nobody cares about the kitchen. Over three months, a proper kitchen, a washing machine and somewhere to work are the difference between living somewhere and camping in it.
The phrase gets used loosely. For a long stay, check specifically: a full kitchen rather than a kettle and a microwave, a washing machine you do not share, your own bathroom, and air conditioning you control.
Ask about the water supply and what happens in a power cut — both are ordinary parts of life in Fiji and a host who answers plainly is telling you something useful about how the place is run.
Long stays are where booking platforms cost the most, because their commission is a percentage of a larger total. That money comes out of the transaction without improving your stay.
Booking direct also means you can actually negotiate. A month, a family, a specific arrival time, a request to leave a bag between trips — these are conversations, and they are much easier with the person who owns the apartment than through a messaging system designed to prevent exactly that.
Agree the total for the whole period, not a nightly rate you multiply yourself. Confirm what is included — power and water in particular, since long stays sometimes separate them.
Ask how payment is staged. Paying the full three months up front is rarely necessary, and a host willing to take it monthly is a reasonable signal.
Finally, ask what happens if your plans change. Work postings move. A clear answer beforehand is worth more than a good rate.
